Watching this storm looks like it is going to be/is very bad.

I hope everybody is safe during the storm.

As far as Tri...I know Tri is in Huston and while I disagree with just about everything he says regarding hunting, he and his family are in my prayers.

Please stay safe and more importantly keep your familes safe.

Prayers to everyone down in that area. What a massive storm to blanket that entire area, and to just park and keep dumping so much rain.

Our good friends just closed on their brand new house they built in Wadsworth, and are also really worried about the beach house in Matagorda. Haven't been able to get thru to them all day today. Fingers crossed.

Thanks! Houston has been spared for the most part, minus a cpl tornados that were thrown. Worst part is on its way for us in Kingwood (Houston suburb).

TPM: Any update? Hope you are OK. When I went to bed at 0100, Houston was being pounded by as much as 4" per hour. The Weather Channel and national weather are just catching up with pictures and rescue reports.

Ben, I hope you and your family are safe today. Been watching the fllood waters on television and worrying about you and other Texas MM members.

Prayers on your behalf Texas brothers!

Thanks for the well wishes. Wish I could box up some rain and mail it to you. Best luck on the hunt.

I woke up at 1 last night and saw we were getting a perfect N/S running band so I started packing. We left shortly after daylight and didn't beat the road closures heading North by much. We live on a point on the NW side of Lake Houston between the forks of a river....so, easy decision to abandon ship. Sitting 120 miles North now, watching it on the news, and will go shoot some hogs as soon as the rain slacks up in another 20-30 minutes.

Edit: just saw the road into our subdivision has a canal bridge washed out, so we'll be up here for a while.

Stay as safe as possible.

My dad lives right outside of Houston and has a second house down at Sargent right on the gulf and very close to where the hurricane came ashore. He said he's unsure how his beach house did with the tidal surge and winds. At his house 45 miles away inland, he said they've received about 25 inches of rain in the last few days and is expecting another 20 to 25 inches before it ends.

My uncle in Houston said at times they were getting at a rate of 5 to 8 inches per hour.

Talked to our friends and they are wet but fine. Still no power, but generator keeping everything up. The new house is built up about 4 feet on their pad. Standing water in yards, but nothing in the house. They were able to get over the Matagorda bridge to check the beach house. 4-5 feet of water in laundry, shop, and garage but house is high and dry. They can finally get a nights sleep.

I checked on Roy. He was watering the lawn so I guess he's alright.

Best of luck to all our Texas Friends.

Tristate, I hope all your stuff makes it through this...except your computer of course. ;-) :7

Harvey was no joke. The last flooded road out of my town open up yesterday, so now I can get out North South East and West. I received 53.60" of rain in 4 days at my house and when I say it got close it got close. I was in the fortunate 10% group that didn't flood in my community. Now I'm in the process of helping people recover before I leave for Montana next week. Can you say one extremity to another!!!

Anyways if you are looking to help I suggest focusing on some of the smaller towns and not Houston. Houston has been getting some much deserved publicity but other communities need help too. Contractors and trades are going to be needed in the droves soon, as well as, housing supplies.

Update #2.....**** it's wet. House was spared, we were on a little island. It's been a real cluster. Animals needed moving, friend's houses needed gutting. Caught a catfish in a pool....so, that's something that doesn't happen every day. Everything down here smells like rotten *** (not bc of Tristate before someone goes there). School with 2600 HS kids about a mile away is FUBAR. Soooo, at the stage we're at now, from Rockport to LA, any of you contractor folks out there want to come on down and make a killing, then c'mon.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-09-17 AT 07:16PM (MST)[p]Looks like Karma has come to call...Hate to do it but...might need a few prayers if you can spare one.
I have lived through many hard time, Including cancer but... I am a little worried and feel I mght need a few prayers.

I recently moved to Tampa for work. Not sure if you have seen but, the news shows a little bit of weather heading my way. Today I sent my wife and son out of town to avoid this crazyness. I am a little stressed as this is our first huricane and could use a few prayers if you can spare any.

It has already cancelled my elk hunt this week and they are predicting 140 MPH winds at my house tommorrow. My family is safe, bu I am a little wooried about the house. I decided to ride through the storm. Because of my job, law enforcement, I am a 1st responder and will not/can not leave. Long story short. I am sitting in the house waiting out the storm.

Thanks

Well...
I am happy to report that we made it throuh. Things went as well as we could have hoped. We are assessing the damage in the area now. It was very loud and we had wind in excess of 110 at the house with about 8 inches of rain.

Thanks for the preayers

"I recently moved to Tampa for work ".

Ouch! Is any job really worth that?

Glad you made it through. Hope you can get back and elk hunt.
