Varmint hunting

Last year I had a farm that only allowed Air guns because the farm was close to houses and town.
Well this year I was out shooting and another farmer stopped and talked. One thing leads to another and I have 7 farms I am now shooting Rock Chucks on. None of them would allow a 22LR or a centerfire they only wanted air rifles shooting on their places.
I have shot 130 on one farm and 180 for the spring.

Those farmers are going to love having you around for pest control.

That rifle is an Air Arms TX200 in 22 cal. I got the gun earlier this year. Most people shop for air rifles look for the fastest rifle they can find. And I did that too. I got a couple that were fast and also found that they didn't shoot worth a #####.
I did a lot of research and found that the TX200 was the #1 rifle in the game of Field Target. I decided to give it a try. it has a German barrel, and Italian walnut stock and it was built in England. The rifle is heavy but that helps with it shooting. This gun only shoots a 14.66 gr pellet at 670 feet per second. But this is the kind of groups I get at 20 yards.



This is the kind of groups I get at 50 yards.



I had a couple different scopes on it. The first two were just cheap scopes. I put a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44AO scope on it and it has been a great combination.



The TX200 is an under lever spring piston gun. There are some that are faster but none as accurate.

Ron we have a similar weapon that is lever spring piston,and it jumps considerably.do you have the same response with the TX200?

It hardly moves during the shot. I have a video I took of a pellet on the turret cap.

Dang that a lot of hole diggers.
You just become a rancher and farmer best buddy, a lot of animals get injuried in those holes.

Ron, what is your lethal range with that rifle? Some of those rock chucks look pretty big. I am wondering how far yuo can "reach" wiht that gun.

Realistically with the scope I have now my effective range is 70 yards on body shots and 60 yards on head shots.
That said I have made 3 shots that were 104 yards and killed the chucks.
