I started off the New Year with a bit of good news - I won a free 7-day safari in South Africa with a well known outfitter there (Charl Van Rooyen and Infinito Safaris). I have wanted several species which were never available in Namibia or Zimbabwe where I hunted in the past, namely a nyala, a Limpopo bushbuck, a mountain reedbuck, and perhaps a klipspringer. We saw klippies in the past, and even got pics, but none were available on quota at the time. This will be great. :)

This will be my opportunity for seeing all of them in one area, so I extended the planned hunting trip by a week, and will see what the hunting gods have in store to provide me. The great part of the trip is that I will probably be able to get my son to video it professionally, and be able to share it with all of you here.

Can't wait to start another adventure, just a year after the last with Predator in Namibia. Getting psyched already and its still 9 months out!

Congrats. There is nothing prettier than an Nyala. I just got my lifesize back and it is one of my most prized possessions. I love it. I will post a pic.

I also took a Cape Bushbuck and it is a beautiful mount.

Glad to hear David is going with you to film; maybe I can get him to share the footage with me.

Congrats again!

Justin

Great job Blank! I am glad to hear about your hunt. I will be taking my kids and dad in 2014. I am really looking forward to it!

Are you going to the Hunt Expo?

One of my favorites for sure.

Do they have Vaal Rhebok where you are going? What a special trophy.

LJ: Don't know about the Vaal Rhebok, and will have to ask Charl when we get together in Reno. Your nyala looks great, so many different stripes and patterns on them is cool.

WRH: Sounds like a fun family trip! Yes, I hope to be down to the Expo on either Sat. or Sun., and will try to hang out with Predator for a while. See my taxidemist and discuss some mount ideas for the new critters.

Great, I will be at the Motshwere Safari's booth. Stop by and say hello.

Next time I am in Idaho Falls visiting in-laws, I need to look you up and take you to dinner. You are the one that got me hooked on Africa (with your hunting report and pic's). It's the least I could do!

Had a herd of 10 Nyala bulls feeding at less than 100 yards for about a half hour. They were all young but sitting and watching them was a amazing. One of my favorite animals for sure. The females are quite impressive as well.

WRH: Love to meet and visit sometime, when you're up here in the cold North. :) Will definately swing by the booth at the Expo and look you up.

LJ: Jason and Claire arrived safely and David stopped by with them this afternoon. Really nice couple and I can see they would be fun to hunt with. Gonna try to line up my hunting partner and another friend who want to go to Kanana in May while they are here. David said you may be up too????

Charl is a grear guy. Glad we went to dinner and then chatted at his booth. No doubt you will have a great trip.
