Arizona in January

I'm heading to AZ for my first mule deer hunt the first week of January. I'm trying to decide on a unit but I'm getting so much mixed information on so many different units. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

I'm hoping for a spot and stalk hunt and am willing to hike off the road to find the deer. I can also bring an ATV if needed.

27 sounds like it may be too rugged without some advanced scouting?

I've gotten mixed reviews on 22, 28, 23, and 24a.

The southern border units sound like they'd be great if I were coming a couple of weeks later.

Any info on these units or others that I should be looking at would be most appreciated.

The january hunts are pretty good in just about all of the open units. Just pick a unit do some research & go for it. You should put in for a Javelina archery tag or by a left over tag if there are some.
