Looks like I drew this tag... will be paying the extra to chase them with a bow, but is anyone willing to share their intel on this tag? Will be coming home from a deployment here the beginning of August and I plan to spend a bit of time up there learning the roads better, but I will have to make mama happy....

Planning on camping and staying out in the field the whole time I'm hunting, is there any areas to avoid or those that get over crowded? I have taken a 78? and a 79? inch goat in Utah in the past, so I will be very selective on my goat.

Any information would be great through either PM or my number is 801-368-7108

You drew a great unit and I'd take full advantage of it if you can. My son and I drew the unit next door in 2011 and he took an 85" buck and I missed one over 80" as well.
If you are strictly hunting with a bow, I'm guessing finding isolated water and a blind is your best option, but if you plan to rifle hunt, I'd suggest you wait until late Sept before hunting.
At that time the rut is on and the big bucks are going nuts over the ladies. That's when we hunted and it was a total blast. Besides we didn't see another single hunter during the 3 days we were there.
I also like your idea of camp hunting. We just took a tent in our truck and hunted all day like gypsies. Then we just found a level spot and set up camp every night. In the morning we'd get up, break camp and hunt til dark. Way better than driving for an hour each way to a motel, and much more effective.
Anyway, congrats on a great tag and best of luck.

57 is fairly isolated so I'd be prepared with an extra gas can plus water. If it rains those roads can also turn to gumbo mud....bring a shovel and possibly chains. The wind is known to howl on a daily basis so prepare for that as well. I usually camp out in the topper shell on my truck. A tent may end up in Kansas!

It sounds like you are familiar with judging bucks? Obviously bring the best optics your money can afford. Should be lots of bucks to look over. Take your time and filter through them.

Thanks for the advice everyone... I'm pretty excited for this tag and will give it a few weeks to find a trophy and if not, all go back up with the kids and finish it at the end with them.

I'll be setting up shop with my class c motorhome, I've spent enough time in a tent (right now even) that I will enjoy some finer things in life, and standing behind Zeiss optics is one of them!

I plan on utilizing the canon a lot on this trip as well, with them chasing the ladies it should make for some great photo opportunities.

Will keep everyone posted!
