So I just got a call from the DWR. Someone, actually two people turned their tags back in for the fall San Juan bear hunt. I was next on the list, so I'm going bear hunting on the San Juan this fall.

Congrats and keep us posted. I hope to chase the bear on the San Juan some day with the help of hounds!!! Bagged several bears, but want to chase them with hounds someday.

I was surprised because I only had 4 points. I drew the spring tag the first year they offered it, but ended up eating tag soup.

Everyone I have talk to has been seeing bears, Not one bear on each scouting trip, But multi sighting of bears. Good time to have a tag. Good Luck Hope you smoke a good one.

So I lined up someone with dogs to go with and after talking to them I went online and looked up my hunt # and wouldn't you know it, it's a spot and stalk only tag. DUH!

I'm glad I found that out now, the DWR didn't mention this (Lisa?) when they offered the tag and it doesn't say spot and stalk only on the tag. I'm just glad I found that out now rather than day 2 of my hunt. I'm just as excited because I do really like spot and stalking them.

deadibob, I had the spot n stalk tag last year down there I had a blast, and had a successful hunt. Good luck on your hunt it will be fun.

Thanks yoteman. I've spent some time down there filming them in the past. My inlaws all live in Blanding. It sounds like they are bunched up a bit this summer on the feed. It will be a blast and now that we're not running dogs, I'll be able to take my kids with me.

Maybe I'll be able to write a sequel to my book "Little Jake and the Three Bears" while I'm down there.
