There’s a lot of things I wish NF would do. Great scopes but there are definitely some gaps in the lineup. If I had to pick one, it would be a 30mm ATACR line.I wish Nightforce had more offerings with a 42-44 mm objective. mtmuley
I understand that, I had a 7# rifle for backpack and big mountain hunts, and went through three different scopes trying to keep it light and yet still make it do what I wanted it to do, stretch out to 4-500 max. I finally gave in. It is now a 7.25# rifle and wears a NF NXS compact. And guess what, it absolutely shoots better than it did before with those few extra ounces and greater scope capabilities. I don’t notice the extra 4-5 ounces until I actually hit the target repeatedly, unlike before.I suppose. If I were 20 years younger, and didn't mind carrying the extra weight on that 10 mile hunt, I might pick a heavier gun/rifle combo. But when I look at the 9 pound combo vs the 7 pound combo, the decision is pretty simple when I shoulder that puppy.
Now if I were hunting from a vehicle, or from a stand, or from sniper's nest (none of which I do)- the heavier combo would be just fine.
And, in fact (here it comes), I've only used Leopolds and Swaros for exactly 40 years, with no problems. Guess I'm just lucky!
I've looked at the SHV. I think the short length would require me to use a rail. That's something I don't want to do. mtmuleyThere’s a lot of things I wish NF would do. Great scopes but there are definitely some gaps in the lineup. If I had to pick one, it would be a 30mm ATACR line.
There is the SHV and NXS with 42mm objectives. Those aren’t to your liking?
There are two piece rails out there. If your receiver holes are true, that might work for you.I've looked at the SHV. I think the short length would require me to use a rail. That's something I don't want to do. mtmuley
