I thought about picking up a buck tag private only, but I can’t find anyone that will allow me to hunt private, even for a trespass fee. Looks like a cool unit so that’s why I’ve been trying to find a willing landowner.

Anyone do any turkey hunting in GMU 49? Going up there next weekend to look at some land and thinking about making a weekend out of it to try it out. Thinking of trying Weston Pass. Any help would be appreciated!

I disagree with the comments of the terrain being rough. I have been hunting 49 my entire life and there are definitely areas of the unit that you can get a decent bull (not a trophy), without breaking your back. In fact, there are roads that get you to timberline and you can hike down from there.

I wouldn't use all those points for GMU 49. Good bulls don't get me wrong, but we draw every year with zero/one preference point.

Any luck in 27/181 so far? 3rd season can't come soon enough!

I agree, that's why we are picking up doe tags and cow tags just in case. Hoping to find a buck or two, but will settle for a doe (wouldn't mind a nice cow as well).

Well with the leftover list coming out today, might as well pick up a doe tag and cow tag to have along with my buck tag. Looking forward to trying out a new area(s), always fun hunting with family. If anyone else has anymore information/tips, it would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to all...

I was able to draw a limited leftover 3rd season buck tag for unit 27/181. I've hunted units around these, just not the units themselves. From what I've read, tons of hunters and a lot of private land... Still want to get out there and put in a good effort though. I plan on scouting the units...
