You might know a big one when you see one. But you also might not. It really depends on how the buck is built. Short heavy ones often get overlooked. And also if the first 50 bucks you see are all under 80, but one of them looks clearly bigger than the others what would you do? Most hunters...
That's what I'd call him right now. But I wouldn't expect that to change too much. Personally, I'd go after that crazy gnarly spiky buck that you found. That buck could be just as big or bigger. It was tough to tell because the side view was taken from above him quite a bit.
Here's fairly typical growth on a pronghorn from April until the season opener in September. I gave my guesstimate on how high the prong was in each of the photos. I would have guessed this buck to grow about 1-7/8" from his April 7th pics. And his growth was about a half inch per month in the...
LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-19 AT 04:22PM (MST)[p]Archery: I can't even imagine archery hunting in 64. Generally, the more remote an area is the more wild the antelope. And that seems to hold true in 64.
Roads are similar
I've stayed in Rawlins to hunt 64 - it takes about a 1:15 to get to the...
After looking through all the draw reports here is how it looks to work.
New Mexico rounds to the nearest whole number.
So the unit needs to have 5 tags for an outfitter tag to be available. 0.10 x 5 = 0.50 (rounded up equals 1)
The unit needs to have 9 tags for an NR tag to be available...

LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-18 AT 11:38AM (MST)[p]Here are some bucks from that ranch a long time ago. It's been over a decade since I've scouted it. Good luck.
1989 - 83"
1991 - 84"
1994 - the buck in the left hand - 79"
Any front views? Or better side views with the bucks head upright?
From these pics I'd say 83. I'm not seeing as much mass as you are. Something like a 6-6/8 base and 7-1/8 first. Unless he's swollen from the front. Most of the guesses seem to be pretty good given the pics...
I realize I'm late to this thread and the hunter only wants a 70+ buck, but what jims and chipc said is spot on. I hunted 67 last year - it's one of my favorite units - and it took me 3 days to find a buck over 81 - which usually isn't the case. After 6 days of hunting I had located 1 buck that...
