    2nd season unit 21 deer

I would bring ATVs because of the roads. Roads get really tough with the clay including lower. Many are washing out. Look for cheatgrass growing in the bottom of draws. If it is hot and dry identify water sources and possible routes down to the water that don't cross major roads. You may be...

    Units 82, 86, 861 Above Timberline

Problem was the quakie trees falling into the trails. Spent 1/2 day sawing and chopping to get the mules up the trail. Finally set camp lower than planned.

    Possey Hunting

    >I am OK with that. (Not >Hunting again, ever.) I would >rather not Hunt than see >our Deer Herds get pounded. >Just to see Big Bucks >like that is enough for >me. I thought you were >against crowds. So I thought >you would be for Hunting >with less people. This is >going to be the way...

    Sad News.

Longshot349 post some pics!! Went to grade school on Piceance creek early 68 - 72. When driving down the creek in the winter time, we would count 1000s of deer. Was told that one field, owned by Oldlands(?) actually had over 1000 deer alone. Few people today really know what a lot of deer...

    High country hunting

Where I hunt in the high country weather can be a factor. What happens when on the day of your hunt you find it is a fogged in rainy windy mess and it doesn't change all day? A couple days and you have only 1 day left to hunt! I don't think I take that chance. We have had bad weather and...

    My Unit 201 Rifle bull

Mnbearhunter, I think the roads are in decent shape. To me it doesn't look like that clay type. slick as snot soil, ha. Unless, you are down lower then the soil type turns into clay. As you know there are roads everywhere and with an ATV you could almost drive to or get close to a down...

Graysage, if you are a resident, then you should be in the pool that draws a tag!

    My Unit 201 Rifle bull

56 buck tags seems like maybe to many tags to me. We were surprised with how many deer was saw, but I don't think there are 56 older age class bucks in there! Would hope someone is chasing lions and filling the quota. It could be great deer area.

    My Unit 201 Rifle bull

Once again, great bull and congratulations. I think the bull you shot was probably a year older than the one I shot. I know you certainly passed up a lot of bulls, was he the largest you saw?

    My Unit 201 Rifle bull

Here are a couple more pictures. I heard the local rancher and outfitter Raftoupolis, runs 10,000 head of cattle in this unit. Black cows are everywhere and they were there last year and I think every year. But, there was so much grass and so many places to water, the range looked good to...

    My Unit 201 Rifle bull

Had a fun hunt, saw 100 to 150 5/6 point bulls in two days of hunting, just crazy. The evening before, we heard bugling constantly for over 3 hours. Spent a lot of time sneaking around good bulls at less than 100 yards. This felt like a once in a lifetime experience, which it is, ha. In this...

    Fresh Northwest Colo lion kill

Not bad. Did see some bachelor groups of bucks, but overall nothing big. I saw one that looked pretty good, velvet hanging on/off his antlers. Don't think he was thirty, but not bad. Rumor has it that there are good bucks there. I ran across two guys who were scouting, that burned 12...
