By the way I have hunted deer and elk in both units to answer your question.

Both 3/301 and 11/211 will produce a first buck. Its a toss up which units to try to draw. Maybe more of a convenience issue than anything else.

I got these pics a while back, was told this buck came out of an X zone in north/eastern CA.

Ive hunted those units 6 of the past 7 years and only have seen 5 bucks 170 or bigger and one is on my buddy's wall. They are out there though Ive seen a couple monsters. Don't know what the first season is like, I only hunt the 3rd season. Good luck.

saw some decent bucks, but no wall hangers. 4x4's in the 22" range.

I hunted 3/301 last season saw 200-250 antelope all on public land. Plenty of nice bucks, you shouldnt have a problem filling your tag.
