A couple of Questions- How much time can you spend scouting preseason? How much time during hunting season? Do you want to see more deer or better quality? What size deer would you shoot?

As a NR you will have No chance in 124. The past years there has not been a random tag, so only Max Point holders get a chance at the few Max Pref tags. Unit 100 has had at least 1 random tag for NR the past few years, so you are looking at a 0.2-0.5% chance at drawing. I wouldn't plan a hunt...

It's a great deer regardless of the official. I have noticed velvet bucks shrink a bit from the green score to the dried out official. Can you post a kill picture for reference?

I have always had better luck earlier on the bowhunt. Opening day is late in CO compared to some other states. The dates you say are tough with the Bucks stripping velvet and they tend to disappear. Also when the muzzy season is on they are more jumpy. So I would say the first week is best...

Why would you cut the lungs/guts out? With elk I always do the gutless method (and just about all animals anymore), even if I can get a truck to it and just put the quarters straight in the bed. Saves you going in blind to unecessarily gut an animal and possible cut yourself...
