Hobo Dinners- Get a hamburger patty and vegetables like potatoes, carrots,corn,peas and wrap them in tin foil. You cook them in the coals of your fire. You cant put them directly on the coals of course because they'll burn. They're easy to make ahead of time and clean up is easy.

Actually Idaho does give out landowner tags through their LAP program. They can give them to anyone they choose but they cannot sell them. We shoot the 460 No Excuses and 100 grains of 777. Its a tack driver! My other son has another muzzy tag that opens tomorrow. He'll be shooting the White too.

This has turned into a very tough hunt like Ron said. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll eventually turn up some nice bucks. Before all the elk tags they put in this unit it was one of the best tags in the state to have. Now its decent at best. Hopefully all the tags will eventually reduce...

Whenever I travel to the Wood River Valley I see A LOT of support for SFW up there. No doubt whoever is picked for the commission jobs will bow to the state politicians who wish to profit from Idahos wildlife, one way or another. It will be a silent requirement to get the job. Sad but true.

10A is definitely a very crowded unit. There are better units farther north. Some with a lot less private property.

If it was me id be hunting a couple of those bigger bulls. Sit in your stands through the first part of the hunt and see what happens. Those bigger bulls are about average for OTC tags here in Idaho if you put your time in. Good luck on your hunt.

If Idaho ever goes to any point system it will be the start to the end of OTC tags. That would be a sad day!

I don't have pics but there were two bulls I know of that were taken on the archery hunt last year that were 366 and 341. There isn't a lot of elk but there are a few good ones. For now anyways! The new otc archery hunt will not help anything.

The best time for you to scout there will be a week before your season. The best part of the rut is the week before your tag opens and the first week of your hunt. It should be a great hunt for you guys.
