I think you have pretty much there on how you'll decide on which to use, but why not take both on your hunt. Use the 300 on windy days for the stability of the bullet and the 243 in better weather. As far as bullets go in the 243, the solids might be great, but some rifles don't like them...

If you take the special fee out of the mix, the tag fees are pretty much in line with the rest of the western states. Buying the extra point or so with the Special option to get drawn a year or two sooner is what pushes the price up.

Low and behold, I received an envelope with a powder blue tag in the mail yesterday so all is well. Had to send my elk tag back as I drew an AZ elk tag and can't use both. Wish AZ would post their results sooner to eliminate the guessing game when CO apps are due.

Back door 591 code showed up this morning so it looks like CPW is back to normal. It is going to be a great fall season helping a co-worker with his AZ early rifle unit 27 bull tag followed by my CO deer and AZ General season bull elk tags.

I had the same question. Just tried to apply on line, but the system says that there is currently No Active Draw. I thought the fall draw for deer, bighorn etc., was open. Seems odd that the reg's have been available for a few weeks, but the GF are not accepting applications.

A million people attended Obama's inauguration, but only 14 had to miss work.

A co-worker drew 27 early rifle. Lucky dog!!!

Not positive, but I think the Salvation Army soup kitchen in down town Phoenix accepts wild game meat. It probably has to be professionally processed for them to accept it. Could check into it. Don't know of any processors that will discount, but you could ask.
