    Colorado Unit 55

I had a 2nd season deer tag in 55 last year. I backpacked in and had a great hunt. There were deer lower, but most of the bucks, and the one I killed were at about 11,000 ft. Just a little snow on my hunt though, so if you get much snow, I'm not sure if they'd still be up that high. But if I...

My 2014 Season Pics / Video "I Live For This"

I am just now getting around to posting how my 2014 hunts went. I first off want to say thank you to the guys that gave me advice on this forum regarding my Wyoming elk hunt, and my Colorado deer hunt. I know sometimes we ask for advice or tips for a unit and then we forget to post how the hunt...

    Superformance

This will be my first year hunting with Hornady Superformace SST 130gr out of my 270. So far they shoot great out of my gun, great velocity, but I'm yet to see how they perform on an animal. I Live For This

    colorado unit 55 mule deer

I have your same tag, and it will be my first year hunting the unit as well. I haven't received any tips or info. I just have found a few areas on google earth that look good, so I plan on backpacking in a few days before the opener and staying the entire week. Best of luck to you! I Live For This

    G5 T3's for elk

I shot the T3's for the first time last year. I was able to take a mature bull in early December. 64 yard broadside shot and the arrow was sticking out the other side of him.. He only made it 40 yards or so before expiring. If you have any doubts about them, then stick with a fixed blade. You...

Colorado Unit 55 3rd Season Mule deer

I am a non-resident as well. I drew unit 55 2nd season. This is my first year hunting that unit so I am not much help. But after my hunt in October I could give you any info/tips on what I learned! I Live For This

    Book Cliffs archery deer

That's awesome man! I had an archery tag there last year. I went on two scouting trips before hand and found an area that I loved. Through scouting I decided I would only put the sneak on bucks 160+. I hunted hard and ended up taking a 165 inch buck on the 4th day. It was about my 10th stalk of...

Shoes instead of boots for hunting?

Check out Salomon Speedcross 3 CS. I've only had them for a year, but I have zero complaints about them thus far. Very comfortable, light, and somewhat waterproof. I'll definitely be wearing them this fall. The treads on them give you insane grip just about anywhere. I Live For This

    Fixed blade VS EXP/Mech blade

+1 The more KE and Momentum you can get the better. There is no such thing as too much:) And I agree, with as fast as you're shooting you would benefit more by adding a little weight to your arrow. But with your current set up at 82# KE that is plenty to get the job done regardless of your .5...

    Fixed blade VS EXP/Mech blade

    Fixed blade VS EXP/Mech blade

I drew an elk tag in Wyoming this year as well and I plan on using expandable broadheads. I don't have any experience with Grim Reaper, but last year I did try expandables for the first time on both of my Utah hunts. I went with the G5 T3's. They shot exactly like my field points out past 100...

    Hunting in Eastern Europe?

I've never hunted over there, so the only thing I could help you with is the climate. I lived in Romania for a couple years. And I even lived near the boarder of Hungary. The climate is pretty similar to that of Utah's. It can get pretty warm in the summer (in the 90 degrees) but the winters are...

    Wyoming Unit 7 Elk

godeep - Your first comment. And I obviously wasn't the only one who thought that was what you meant. I guess we're not mind readers either:) I had no intention of making you upset, and I now understand what you meant by your comment. And once again, I wasn't asking for a specific place to hunt...

    Wyoming Unit 7 Elk

godeep - Take time during the hunt to scout? haha Scouting is the most important part of any hunt and I already have a couple scouting trips planned this summer..(before my hunt starts.) I personally see nothing wrong with asking for advice from fellow hunters. And Finding out about the unit I...

    Wyoming Unit 7 Elk

I drew Unit 7 Bull Elk Tag in Wyoming for this 2014 season. I've done a little research, and I've had family hunt there in the past. I'm just wondering if some of you who have been on the unit before, had any tips or advice they would be willing to share, or at least what to expect. I realize...

    Newbie question

I have tried fixed blade broad heads for 4 years, and I was never able to get them to fly as true as my field points. I went with the G5 T3 expendables this year, and they flew very similar to my field tips, even out to 100 yards. I took a mule deer buck and a bull elk this year, and I'll...

    New arrow set up help

I personally have never shot Rage before. But I shoot a mathews dxt set up with the the HDX rest with 27" carbon express maxima arrows with the small blazer vanes at 70 lbs. This last year I went with the G5 Tekan 3 expandables and I loved them. (I previously was using fixed broadheads.) I was...

    hunting with wife/GF?

I actually love hunting with my wife. I mainly archery hunt, and have taken her with me once. She did slow me down, and I was unable to hunt how I wanted. So what I decided to do is put her in for a different tag than mine. So we decided on the Muzzle loader deer hunt. That way every year I can...

    My Wife's First Deer Hunt

My wife and I left home at 3:30am to start our hike on opening morning of Utah's general season muzzleloader hunt. We were heading to the top to locate a buck we had found a few days prior. After a few hour hike, we were sitting right in the saddle at first light. At 7:15am we spotted her buck...

Here are some pictures of my 2013 Book Cliffs archery hunt. We had an unbelievably fun time out there. Book Cliffs Velvet (Video)

I went on a spotting trip last weekend and the buck you filmed at 02:35 (the 5x5 with the big eye guards) was the first buck we saw! Saw him in the evening and in the morning. Can't wait for this weekend! Both of his cheaters looked a little bigger in person:) What a small world! I Live For This
