You never know if you don't apply. I drew the deer tag last year with no expectation of ever drawing.

IMO, the biggest issue with the early rifle this year is waiting half a lifetime to draw the tag and only getting 5 days to hunt.

We must have been in one of those "dead areas". Saw one 280-300ish bull Tuesday before the hunt opened, heard a handful of bugles after dark and before light, other than that nada. Saw a lone cow on 2 mornings, some deer and bull moose. Only heard 2 shots in the area we hunted.

Not a bad ruling. Some will be incensed by it, but we still get to hunt a muzzy season.

I may be off base here but, I thought the primary focus of the Pahvant was elk management. If that is in fact the case, it could be why the deer aren't getting much attention from the WB.

Does it count if I print off my unsuccessful emails and cut them? Ended up with 8 un's and no tags in any state.

Thanks, he ended up going 198" gross after the drying period. I thankfully had a lot of help from family and friends to keep me sane on this hunt. We passed on roughly 60 bucks between 180-190, but this guy had the "look" that I wanted.

A lot will depend on the severity of what is being repaired with the scope. Torn meniscus, you should be ok in 6 weeks with good therapy, removal/suture of any cruciate ligaments (ACL, MCL, PCL), count on closer to 12-16 weeks. Any work on the boney structures could be 6 week or 12, again...

Going in to see my deer mount at the Judkins Taxidermy booth, validate my lotto tickets, and leaving. After going into the show, the last few years if I'm not booking a hunt or buying something it seems like a waste of time.
