    Mule Deer help needed

I moved to Portland area for work. I don't have any intention to hunt NW , I like Muleys and don't know how to hunt the dense forests where I live anyways. This is why I'm looking east but really have no idea where to start hence the request for input.

    Mule Deer help needed

Thanks for the advice Togwotee. I appreciate the insight. Did not mean to say NM as rough as this country in Hells Canyon. Trying to say I have more rough country experience than say dense forest.

    Sandia Youth Hunt

No eyes like a owl. Just know how to identify shapes in the dark with the binos at close range. It helped that it had silhoutted itself on the ridge. It took me a couple of minutes and my eyes adjusted and i could see the buck. A friend of mine introduced me to glassing in the dark this fall and...

    Sandia Youth Hunt

Thank you. Yes, hard work did pay off and it turned out to be a learning experience for young Carsten. I believe it made it that much better to have hunted for so long and finally be successful. The shot was 45 to 50 yards on a steep incline. Carsten was sitting in with a herd of does on the...

    Sandia Youth Hunt

15 year old Carsten with his first Mule Deer Buck. He chased muleys around, the westside of the Sandia Mountains, for six days with brother and dad before harvesting this nice buck. Seen many monster bucks over the six days but could not get in range to try for one of those bad boys. He is very...

    Bears Westside Sandia Mountains

LOL.....Yeah i hear you live4muleys. The Sandia Bear Group must not spend much time in the Sandias. These pics were all taken in one corridor and captured several. I put in around 20 miles a week and see bear tracks of various size all over the mountain. I would be interested in seeing how they...

    Bears Westside Sandia Mountains

Not real sure if this is common in Sandias to have such variation of colors. this is my first time setting up cam to capture bears. To be truthfull i have never seen any bears in Sandias that were not black. Thanks for comments.

    Scouting coming up

If the roads are bad while hunting in 2b you can bring your camper to Simms Mesa Campground by the lake. It will be easier to access. It also has showers. Should be able to get a space without reservation at this time. It is not a far drive to Bancos Mesa (15 minutes maybe) and Carracas Mesa (30...

    Sandia Mountain Youth Archery Hunt

Anyone willing to provide any tips for a couple of youth hunters whom will be hunting the Sandia Mountains for Deer in November? My two youngest sons have still not harvested any animals up to now and I would like to put them on some deer this time to keep them interested in hunting. Cheers.
