    Washinton moose info

The late hunt is a little tougher than the early one since the rut will be over. The more ground you can cover, the better chance you have of seeing one, so just keep moving from daylight till dark and he'll get one. NRA Life Member

    Moose unit 24 updates?

I drew the #24 moose tag this year and am hoping to get input from anyone that has been seeing any good bulls there lately. I've gotten info from previous hunters, but I'd like to see if I can get some up to date intel. I'll start my hunt on Sept 20, so any info that anyone would like to share...

    Wolf Stocking in WA

I'm thinking that they are looking to put some wolves in the St Helens blast area to help fill the quota for all three regions. With the elk dying off around there, they might think the wolves would be natures cure for that. NRA Life Member

    VIPER 8 X 32

I bought a pair of the Viper 8x32 HD bino's a couple of months ago and used them for deer hunting last fall. I am quite impressed with their brightness and clarity, but they weigh a little over 20 ounces and are a bit too heavy for me to wear around my neck all day. They do however work fine...

    Deer permit 2nd choice

Does your 2nd choice on an Idaho deer permit application really count? I have read on forums in the past that only the 1st choice is considered for some reason.

    elk unit 40 & 42

I saw a group of 10 bulls in 42 on Nov 8th near Bald Mt out in the sage. The biggest was a 6 point with one main beam broke about halfway. The rest were raghorns and spikes.

    Unit 41 or Unit 42

What is the latest status of the wilderness areas now? Have boundaries been since determined and posted for indian areas? What about road closures leading to wilderness areas? With hunt application soon, just trying to figure out if unit 41 or 42 is worth applying.

Second Best Utah Mule deer Hunt

I looked at that forever scenario of waiting for Henries or Pauns with 12 nonres points this year. Not wanting to wait forever, I cashed in on the sure bet and drew the Elk Ridge any weapon deer permit this year. Remember, Elk Ridge used to be a Premium Limited Entry tag. The trophy genetics are...

    Game Care in Hotter Climate?

I built a insulated meat box with 1/2" plywood for the exterior and 3" thick styrofoam in the middle and 1/8" fiberglass reinforced plastic panels on the inside and sealed it to be waterproof with a drain in bottom. I painted the outside white to reflect the heat and would think it would keep...

What insulated big game cooler do you use?

I'm looking to either build an insulated container or buy one for a hunt during warm weather. I need something that will keep groceries cold in camp for 5 days then store a quartered elk (with ribcage boned out) for transport home. I would use this for out of state hunts 1000 miles away as well...

    San Juan Elk Ridge

Thanks Mathewsman, having never been there, a place to start will help. After 12 years of applying, I'm really looking forward to hunting in that scenic country. When I first started applying, the San Juan Elk Ridge was a classified as a "premium" unit for deer. Too bad it lost that status.
