Last minute meeting to change Co tag allocation

Colorado wildlife are in trouble with the board they have in place. Watched a couple commish meetings. Hard to have any confidence in their ability to manage or make any wildlife management decisions. When you listen to them speak, they don’t even come off as confident in what they are discussing.

Seeing the same in Kansas. Rut has been really weird and hunting slower than usual, at least for me. Hopefully next 4 or 5 days gets ramped up, colder incoming temps should help.

Your experience with APR's let's hear it

Fishlake was 3 point or better and it was awesome back then. Groups of bucks was no joke. Kids have no idea how good thing’s actually were. It’s laughable when I hear how great deer herds look, laughable. Are we’re really that pathetic as hunters, with the optics we have today, to use the excuse...

Antler spread restriction would be awesome. Not sure if Utah hunters could carry that responsibility… That’s cool management though. Don’t see why they couldn’t do something like that ?‍♂️.

Your experience with APR's let's hear it

100% support antler point restrictions. The days of shooting first and asking questions later is a very slippery slope compared to years ago. Everyone has big glass and a phone scope. I just don't that to be a valid there are loads of bucks being shot and left to lay. Sure there is always going...

    Utah’s FINALLY feeling the heat.

Zero doe hunts, control the predators, & pray Mother Nature cooperates. Why only southern units in the plan? I’m all for it, but what about some of these northern units. They took a beating last winter. Some of these northern units could be incredible. I hope they don’t test and salvage the...

    Interesting WY Elk Herd Article

Landowners ***** about the elk herd, but don’t allow access to hunt cows late season. Or charge an absurd amount to access them. Makes a lot of sense. Allow hunters to hunt cows on your land, problem solved. Wouldn’t take very many cows hitting the dirt every couple days to keep the elk of your...

How can anyone vote democrat after the lies this administration has told and stood by, along with what they have done to the country and the downward spiral we are currently in. Hard to believe that anyone with any sense whatsoever could vote democrat.

It’s time for a real discussion

Second deer tag option should have gone away years ago, its an absolute joke with current deer numbers that, that is still even an option.

    More educated bowhunters

Equipment has changed the game completely. Archery has grown tremendously, but equipment has a ton to do with it. Shooting high let off bows, release not fingers, arrows, sights, stabilizers, rests, rangefinders, etc. It's really not hard to be acceptably effective with archery equipment. Could...

States with points need a re-boot

I don’t… Some of you are missing the point. For up and comers beginning the point game now, they have about a zero percent chance to draw a top 20% tag in their lifetime. That’s it, nothing more, nothing less. I’m not arguing the availability of general tags, although those too have become much...

States with points need a re-boot

I don't know... I guess ride it out as long as we can. Any change made is probably in vein. The writing's on the wall. Hunting is going to be real tough for the public, blue collar, just looking to draw a general tag sportsman, 20 years from now. Look what has transpired the last 10 years...

States with points need a re-boot

"My" issue isn't getting tags. I have multiple tags every year. The issue is the system's broke, and will only get worse. Random system sucks, but at least it gives those just getting into this game a better chance of pulling some decent tags. If it's a point system their odds are almost if not...

States with points need a re-boot

*How do we get away from points? End it now, no more points issued. Allow those with points to be washed out of the system. Square there points, or whatever strategy you use to give those with points some sort of advantage because of their investment. (not my idea, but a sensible one).

States with points need a re-boot

Heard a podcast the other day, the discussion of point systems came up. I have always been a huge advocate of point systems, but it is and has become painfully obvious that the supply and demand for tags has become too high to justify any point system. Youth coming up have a near zero percent...

Best time for one and only scouting trip ?

First of august. You will have a much better chance not only locating bigger, but more bucks during this time. If you wait til mid October you likely won’t see near the bucks, and especially not the better ones. They’ll be around, but most likely you won’t see them. On top of seeing what the...

Approach to scouting for a LE tag

Sounds like you have a good idea, and are on the right track to a successful hunt. I like to scout bachelor groups of bulls prior to season to get a feel and true inventory of what size of bull is attainable. If you don't know what's living on the unit, how do you set a certain goal for the...
