    Fishing 2024

This is perfect advice. The only thing I would add is in some places you can always do both. Id recommend staying at a lodge of some sort, booking the very first day of your trip as a charter, learning what to use and how to fish, this will give you a big advantage the rest of your trip when...

    Unit 30 Late Elk

Hoping to revive this thread as I drew this for this fall. Coming from Alaska so will only scout once, likely in October. Would love to hear peoples thoughts on which part of season may be better as well as any other useful information. Feel free to PM as well and I am happy to share Alaska...

    2 day minimally guided option

I have Pete Vigil at 505outfitters a couple of times and was very happy. They are very easy to deal with. Have not drawn yet but thats what happens when you swing for the fence on your applications.

Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for. Ben

    2 day minimally guided option

Bit of an odd request, but I see a lot of outfitters offering 2 day minimally guided packages (basically a way to put people into the guided draw pool). What I am wondering is, is there part that explains that the 2 days would need to be during the 5 day season, or would it be legal to have 2...

    ISO landowner voucher

Spur of the moment but it turns out a buddy and I have more time this fall than planned. Looking at options, potentially interested in 1-2 of the following: Colorado 3rd season UW deer or elk landowner voucher, NM PLO voucher with decent property. Colorado decent property in a unit with OTC...

    Nunavik Muskox Hunt

Did this hunt with a buddy January of 2021. We used James Whitman and it was great. We had to deal with covid issues within the village and a long whether delay to get out to the field, but other than that the hunt was fabulous and I couldn’t recommend James more. Ben

Utah LE bull elk hunts need to change.

Im not a Utah person, in fact I have never even hunted in Utah so I cannot comment on the majority of ideas the original poster put forth. That being said I do agree something needs to change, and not just in Utah. Being a math guy I have studied point creep for many years and my son having...

    NR should have known...

I have no problem with this, its no different than the hunts that take place outside Estes and other National parks, if the animal wanders off its fair game there and anywhere else.

    Unimak bear

Went great. Elected to get flown by Rod Schuh who was fantastic. Weather held us up a bit and made it out October 1, harvested my bear on October 3. Didn’t ever get an official hide measurement but 28.5 on the skull.

    Montana Elk results are posted...

Out of myself and 7 buddies who applied for big game combo’s, only 1 was drawn. Apparently everyone is ready to go hunting.

    Unimak bear

Did you do the guided option or just have him drop you? I am always a bit nervous getting dropped off by someone who I assume will be saving his premier spots for his guided clients (understandably)

Also didn’t apply, so at least 2 of us.

    Credit Card Hits

Mine cancelled also, fortunately for me I wasn’t in legitimate running or a super primo tag, worst case scenario for me I miss out on a late season elk tag.

Drew DB375 (Fall Unimak bear) as an Alaska Resident. Now looking into transport/drop-off options for anyone that has hunted this recently. (All the threads I find are fairly old) Thanks for the information Ben

    Point Creep

We comment about how this is ruining things for us, who have devoted years of time, effort, and money into a draw for a tag that it seems we never get closer to drawing, but what about our kids? I look at my 2 year old son and cringe at how few opportunities he is going to have in states like...

    Upcoming Draw recommendation

Roadrunner, even as I inquire I would love to see the end of the Outfitter pool. That being said, while its there Im all for spending a little money to up my draw odds (better than spending thousands on preferance points in states like Colorado for 25 years). My luck with outfitters has not...

    Upcoming Draw recommendation

Hello, I am looking for a New Mexico guide that offers some kind of guide package for the minimum to get into outfitter pool (2 days) and am hoping to hear recommendations. I used an outfitter last year and it worked great but have not been able to reach them to confirm its an option for the...

    Unit 46 Trespass

Hi folks, as you can see I haven't made a ton of posts prior to this. Living in Alaska there aren't a lot of posts made that I feel knowledgeable enough to respond to. That being said I am contemplating buying some unit 46 elk tags, these are obviously PLO tags and the seller has a limited...

    Mighty hunters

Also doesn't help that Hollywood keeps creating cartoon movies such as ?Open Season? Any real hunter knows thats not what hunting really is but the anti?s start believing thats what we all do, same goes for the sick sob?s who killed this sow and cubs in their den. Ben

    Alaska unguided moose hunts.

I do not have anyone specific to recommend or not recommend, but I cannot emphasize to do a lot of homework on area and pilot, especially when looking for unguided moose drop hunts. A lot of pilots will reserve their high quality areas for either guided hunters or repeat customers. Wish i...
