My 15 year old son's first big game hunt was cancelled last year because of a bad dirt bike accident on the Labor Day holiday. He spent almost a month in the hospital... 4 days of which were spent in a coma. He's recovered very well over the past year and was not about to miss the hunting scene this year.
This year he drew a Wyoming tag for an area North of Jackson Hole. Last Saturday we headed into the field to see what we could find. We picked ourselves a good vantage point where we could overlook a large meadow. For most of the morning nothing moved through except for a few other hunters. At about 10:00 am 8 bulls showed up at the far end of the meadow. It took them amost an hour before they fed to within 100 yards. When the largest bull was broadside my son let him have it with my .270 WSM and 130 grain Nosler Accubond bullets. It took him three shots to keep him on the ground, but the bull was there to stay. I had one happy young man on my hands after that. It was a great time in the field with my son. The bull is a 6x8 and rough scored at 343 gross and 332 net. No bad for a first bull!
