That’s great thanks for posting that
Good for you! If you move back to the Reno area look me up.We moved from NV 5 years ago. I still continue to apply as a NR but don‘t plan on drawing anything other than maybe a deer or antelope tag in the next 5-10 years. My goal is to move back after I retire with my 35+ sheep and 25+ elk points with the hope I can still get around the hills good enough kill a good ram or bull.
Don't get too discouraged! Since Nevada is not a preference point state, you still at least have a shot at good hunting areas compared to areas in PP states with point creep.Wow, as a NR, that's pretty discouraging info if I'm realistic about the odds of me drawing before I die.
NV not a preference point state?????Don't get too discouraged! Since Nevada is not a preference point state, you still at least have a shot at good hunting areas compared to areas in PP states with point creep.
Don't give up hope! I was in the same boat as you not drawing for 6 years. Then I drew deer tags consecutive years and an antelope tag as well. 3 great trophies on the wall and worth the wait/odds.Wow, as a NR, that's pretty discouraging info if I'm realistic about the odds of me drawing before I die.
And elk hahaI'm excited to apply for the first time as a resident of Nevada after moving from Utah last year. I brought enough elk points with me to be in the game sometime soon hopefully. I am starting over with deer and antelope points and sheep are always a long shot. -----SS
You guys moving back to Nevada should check and make sure all your points can be transferred. I know Deer can but not sure about the other species!Well
I am also moving to Nevada myself within a couple years so with 20 plus preference points I might finally get a shot at some great tags.
Bonus point and preference point is very different. Bonus points doesn’t really allow for point creep when preference point does. I know guys that have drawn bull tags with zero points in NevadaNV not a preference point state?????
Most all "preference point" states still give me a "shot at good hunting", with random permits, so Nevada's squared bonus points is not really all that different.
Any way we look at it, drawing limited tags is a game of luck with very low probability of success. I've been applying in NV for 17 years with no success and seeing the number of people with more bonus points than me certainly doesn't boost my confidence that this is the year!
None-the-less we all keep trying!
I looked into that a couple years ago and unless it changed I’m pretty sure they transfer over for deer but you have to call and get a request of transfer from nr to resYou guys moving back to Nevada should check and make sure all your points can be transferred. I know Deer can but not sure about the other species!
Yep, they are different, but not all that much.Bonus point and preference point is very different. Bonus points doesn’t really allow for point creep when preference point does. I know guys that have drawn bull tags with zero points in Nevada
no I'm not a Res...I'm the guy in Cali that you hosed on the brass...Are you a resident.?
Its showing the number of applicants that applied for that unit and what choice (1-5) they used with the corresponding bonus points on the left column they had going into the draw.In the second column it shows 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. What exactly does that mean?
I have done pretty good in Nevada in the last 18yrsThat’s why guys are literally moving to Nevada
To become Residents.
yes.....but if they ever open them to NR again......I'm maxDo I have a chance at anything??
