.257 weatherby barrel length

I really want a gun in this caliber, but cant afford a Mark V right now and dont really want to wait until i can afford one to get the gun. almost everything ive read says that you need to the 26" barrel for this caliber to be worth it. Just wondering if any of you guys have a vanguard or can give me the numbers on how much id loose on velocity by getting the vanguard instead.

My German 257 has a 24" barrel it is within 50 FPS of a freinds 26" MK V with the same loads. as a rule you can figure around 50-70 fps between a 24-26 from what I've found on high velocity rounds. in a round as fast as the 257 I don't think the extra velocity is worth the longer barrel to me.
