I'm looking at spotters, would be used as an all around, deer, elk, antelope, maybe a rare sheep hunt. What would you choose, 45x or 60x magnification?

If you get a variable eye piece, you can do both. Sometimes the extra 15x is useful, other times conditions make it worthless.

I'd go with a variable also. I have a 60mm Nikon Fieldscope III with a 20-60x eyepiece and have had good results. I do lose come clarity above 45x though. A larger diameter objective lens will provide more clarity at the higher magnifications.

+1 on all the posts.

Most times 45X is ideal but there are time when a variable eyepiece that will give you 60X is nice to have.

?Here?s to the hero's that Git-R-Done!!?
