LAST EDITED ON Jan-15-13 AT 02:04PM (MST)[p]This past weekend was a cold one at the Grand Canyon as a small cold front came through Thursday night. The temperature was -9* at the canyon Saturday morning. Ice was on the outside of my sleeping bag inside the camper shell. A friend and I photographed from Hopi Point Friday evening and Lipan Point Saturday morning, hoping to catch the clearing storm. We had some scattered snow flurries and patches of light in the canyon both evening and morning.
Sunlight on the ridges and temples.
The last of the sunlight strikes the falling snow.
Dawn's earth shadow from Lipan Point
Falling snow over the Palisades gives the morning sunlight a nice soft color.
Red light is cast across to points off the north rim.
The red is gone out from Cape Final.
