Not sure if I'm to late for you Bill, but start by looking on google earth and find areas that have really thick cover and public access. South or East facing slopes seem to be where the majority of the ones I find, but not all of them. Search around the perimeter of the thickest brush you can find. As soon as you find one try to keep that similar elevation. I've found that each year deer shed at different elevations. I've talked to other people and they say that while in the learning process, like myself ten miles per shed is a typical rule of thumb. So don't be discouraged if you're walking three or four miles and not finding anything. Just keep looking and you'll eventually come into a pocket. Hope this helps, good luck!
