Imagine this Paunsaugunt toad on a good water year!

Has anyone ever actually correlated book entries with local rainfall records? Seems a fairly easy task for one of the overachievers here.

When you hold the deers ear back like that it makes him look bigger than he actually is. ?

Seriously… that’s a stud of a buck. Very nice!!!

What is a drought year in Southern Utah..? 2 inches instead of 2.5..? I really don't know.

I think mule deer adapt well. Look at all those Mexico giants. I just don't think it hurts muleys that much, if at all. They love dry environments.

Its a great deer.

I’ve got a question: what conditions make for a good antler growth year?

from what I’ve seen this year everything is way more green and over grown than I’ve ever seen and I’m not sure how that would not positively benefit antler growth.

Enough good feed....

All depends on the animals genetics and desire to eat healthy. My son eats sugar for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He ain’t gonna grow very well compared to his corn-fed neighbors.

On the top is a stressed browse or grass.. which occurs more on drought years.
Next would be how bucks go into winter.. the more stress an animal has on it coming out of winter the chances of optimal antler growth greatly diminish.

IMHO, the best recipe for antler growth is a wet fall and moderate/dry spring and summer. I’m sure different regions in the US might differ a bit..

So you don't care for the so called posse but it's ok if the little dudes are out there training to be part of the posse some day in the future. Interesting.

You understand the difference between PAID spotters, and little kids right? (Hint PAID, meaning a job, industry)
