The deer are in great shape. Most does threw 2 fawns this year.
Horn growth on the bucks in Janesville is above average IMO.
The May/June rains were very timely. I hike up to a look out tower 2-3 times a week, the look out is about 5 miles north of Antelope. The grass is still green in the shady areas and north facing slopes. At least it was last Sunday. I'll be up there this afternoon again.
Only down side is that because of the drought, I believe more deer failed to migrate up this year and stayed near the agricultural areas (Private). I say this based on my observations that there are more deer in and around Janesville than I've seen in the 25 years I've lived here. It could be lions keeping them down as well but I realy think it's the drought. Or best case, the deer population has grown BUT wouldn't bet on that.
