Any elk in the Mimbres?

Unit 24 offers 20 elk tags this year--5 of which are for youth on Ft. Bayard. There must not be many elk in the unit, but the Mimbres looks like it ought to have a decent number. Anyone seen any there?

Just curious. I have a deer tag for 24 this year and it would be cool seem some elk.

I've seen them in the fields by the mimbres river across from bear canyon lake but that's about it. I think the fire may push a few down towards mimbres but there isn't much elk that I've seen in the unit and I've hunted it extensively. I've also seen a big bull on that look out in between Pinos Altos and Lake Roberts and he was all by himself. That's the only one I have seen on public land. I'm sure there are some just outside of Ft. Bayard though
