I know the predator issue has been hashed over and over. But think of this, what is the cost to get a bighorn sheep population established? All the manpower, both volunteer and paid for, the helicopters, trucks, horse trailers, guzzlers and their maintenance.
One thought from this article (that is on the AZ website): one lion has the potential to wipeout the whole annual recruitment of fawns into the bighorn sheep herd. That is a pretty powerful statement. It puts so much into it's proper perspective.
Then think about how lions can impact mule deer in the more marginal habitat. It does not matter if it rains or not, if the winter moisture is adequate, an animal in a lions belly is dead. Period.

Measure wealth by the things you have,, for which you would not take money.

How did any herd manage itself before we came around?

Did these lions show up after man?

Is that ethical?

"Did these lions show up after man?"

No but man sure did reduce their available habitat and cause them to be more concentrated in certain areas.... Terry
