Arizona Unit 27 Archery Elk and decoy help

I have the late season Archery Elk tag in Unit 27. With the rut over, I figured to sit a trail or two in a dog house blind. This sitting in a ground blind will be a first for me. I thought it might help to put out a pop up decoy to help draw a bulls attention away from the blind and into a shooting lane. I suspect my patience for this sitting might not last past one or two mornings so I am reluctant to go buy a new Decoy that just collects dust for the next 5-10years waiting for my next tag.

Anyone have a dust collecting decoy they could loan me?

Unit 27 Elk seem to migrate around this time. Any suggestions on how best to take advantage of this or how to find them if they aren't in their usual beds?

Anyone else on this site going to be there? Might be fun to meet up and exchange daily info or share a fire or two.

I have a blow-up one that I no longer have a use for. It's free to a good home and might work.

How To Hunt Coues Deer

I have the same tag. If all goes well I will be hunting the last ten days of the hunt. I should be up there late Tuesday morning on the 17th. My plan is too camp at Strayhorse for the first part of the hunt, and be mobile as conditions may dictate.

Look for a Silver Dodge Ram with a Coueswhitetail.com sticker on the back window. If you are around, stop in.

Doing good, Brent. Head to Texas Weds. to kill a maverick scimitar oryx and hunt a whitetail buck.

Good luck on your elk hunt. If you need a decoy, I do have a back-up inflatable I'll lend you. It has mucho better "features' than the one above. ;-)

Snapshot,

I'll be in a Black Ford Supercrew likely with a green Polaris in the bed everywhere I go. Likely staying up top off the 26 road. I expect to hunt opening wkd and then the last 7 days.

You are right about conditions. I hunted in 3ft of snow the week before Thanksgiving back in the early 90's and the elk track highway was all headed downhill.

A friend of mine over at another webite just informed me of the Reno fire up in unit 27. It is a 4500 acre burn in the Bear Wallow Wilderness north to Gobbler Point. I guess there is lots of smoke right now.
