We've had lots of bickering, debating, complaining and more going on lately. Let's get back to seeing some off-season goodies. I posted a couple other threads in the Mule Deer & Elk forums looking to see some cool pics.
In this one, let's see some Ram pics. Dead, alive, on the wall, dead head...post up the pics.

In a few days, whomever shares the coolest, I will send them a book called, "Bighorns and Stone Sheep". Will pick a couple winners.

Post some pics!

Pretty snowy, but he posed good

Great idea Founder. Lately getting on this site has been like hanging out at my mom's card club.

I will play along with a live bighorn and an alaskan dall.

Awesome pics. Ramtagless...Nice ram. Looks like he took a pretty good tumble down the mountain?? The scenery these critters call home is almost as amazing as the sheep themselves. Thanks for sharing.

WOW ....ALL GREAT PICS......THE PICS GIVE ME THAT FEVER AGAIN.....IT ALSO MAKES A GUYS WALLET THIN...........YD.

Yeah - that part sucked real bad for a lot of reasons. Made the pictures less than perfect. One horn actually popped off, thank goodness we found out. Salvaged the meat, cape patched up alright but, not the way you want it to go down.

GREAT PICTURES for sure but shouldn't they be on the SHEEP FORUM instead of the general forum? Still grouchy from my trip and being sick.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-17-10 AT 07:51PM (MST)[p]Wow, you guys have some really great quality sheep photos! I don't know jack about photography and don't own a good camera so any I have would more documentary in nature.

Edit:

Here's some desert rams. Photo quality sucks. Mostly through a spotter at extended range.

WOW NV, that thing is a giant! I love desert sheep that flare out wide like that.

Actually the top three are one ram, three or four different ones after that.

Top ram scored 181 n change.

A friend of mine took these photo's through the spotting scope in Nevada 2007.

Another friend, Jason Macias, found this deadhead in Nevada also in 2007.

I like looking at sheep so I'll add a couple. All of these are desert rams from NV. The quality is not great as they're all through a spotting scope but they're still cool to look at.

These pics are actually screen shots off of a video. I was watching the ram through the spotting scope while this video was being shot. He met his demise a few minutes after this video was shot.

I took this photo a few years ago with a 35mm film camera. Unforutnately i don't have a negative scanner so i had to scan the print and it lost some clarity and detail. Still my favorite sheep photo. I have pictures of him for five years (pretty easy to tell with a numbered ear tag) and he put on a lot of growth.

I have been told that this ram was killed by Karl Malone and is close to, if not, the Utah state record. I've never seen photos of Karl's ram so i'm not sure if its true or not. Anyone on here have pictures of the sheep Karl killed?

sheep.jpg

Ryan, that is a great photo of a great ram. I never did get to see him, but I did get a photo of this ram before he was killed by a guy who comes here on Monster Muleys. I think as I recall his first name was Paul. This was out of that same group of sheep and later in that year that we went out and shot some photos.

By the way thanks for sending me those cougar photos, they were great. Hope all is well and keep posting those fine photos you shoot and the same goes to all the other guys who like to shoot photos. I sure wish I would have started doing that many years ago. But thanks to you and others I sure am having a great time.

Have a good one BB

Thought I would send this one in too. This isn't the greatest but it can be tough to get reflection shots of sheep.

The second ram in the last set of pics looks like one of the Alberta Cadomine rams.

I'll post pics. Here's a picture my son took a few yrs. ago in Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mts. south of Elko. Bighorns Unlimited liked it so well, they used it and a few others for their newsletter announcing their annual fund raiser that year. Even did a story behind the pictures. With the sheep pneumonia outbreak and several hunting seasons gone by now, don't know if this guy is still "out there" or not...I'm kinda hoping he is.

Wow a lot of great shots of great looking sheep.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-19-10 AT 03:13PM (MST)[p]Have the winners been picked yet? Are there rules? home pics or off a pro site? anywho..... I took these right off the cedar hills golf course by the mouth of AF canyon. Looks like the timp sheep are at least alive being that they are not doing well as a herd. Say them again about 2 weeks later and one of the ews was coughing. Damn shame.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-19-10 AT 09:36PM (MST)[p]Montana Bighorn from the Missouri Breaks. Friend Vaughn shot this one in October. It was probably the best hunt I have ever been on, without having the tag.

5455img_4600.jpg

Three days before he shot the one above, I found the one he had been scouting. Unfortunately, it had been poached. Turned it over to MT FWP wardens and they scored it at 199 6/8.

9035img_4542.jpg

7225img_4554.jpg

On our way out, we found this one, a winterkill, laying in the sage. In MT, it is illegal to possess dead ram skulls, so we called FWP on this one also. It is about the same size as the one that was poached.

Got to go to Colorado and help a friend on this hunt. Have never drawn a sheep tag myself, but after getting to go on two sheep hunts this year, I can see why "Sheep Fever" is so addictive.

This is a Desert Ram I took a pic as he was watching another Ram a little below him. I couldn't figure out how to post multiple pics in the same post so i will post the other ram in the next post

Here are a few more. These ones are from the east side of the bitterroot valley. The pics of the rams in my earlier post were up the east fork of the bitterroot near sula, mt.

Great thread. I love looking at sheep pics and some of you guys have some serious photography skills.

completesportsman - those rmnp sheep?

Some great pics on this thread.

This is not a great picture, took it through my spotting scope a few years ago.

No doubt all-time Boone and Crockett ram though:

This is a young ram in a wyoming unit that has been open for hunting on-and-off for the last 10 years.

Not a big ram, but I like the picture.

One of my favorite sheep photos...something that I'll probably never see again in my life-time.

Five dall rams with a combined 825+ inches of horn...
