OK guys, how about some opinions here or directional pointers.

I am looking for a cheap muzzleloader that would be decent to use for Colorado mulies and elk. I'm putting in for a leftover muzzleloader mulie tag and want to combo hunt mulies with my muzzleloader and elk with my bow at the same time :) Yes, I may be a little nuts, but I can't tell you how many bow elk hunts I've been on when I could have harvested a deer so I want to try it. I'll strap the muzzleloader to my pack and carry my bow.

All that said, I'm looking for a decent muzzleloader for under $200 - probably a 50 cal.

Any/all pointers welcome.

My buddy has a CVA Optima. He's shooting belted bullets and the thing can't hit the broad side of a barn. All over the place.

Take a kid hunting. You will enjoy it more than they do!

I just bought a couple of Knight rifles on Gunbrokers.net that are used but look new. One was $52.00 and the other $77 and both are accurate shooters. You can find deals if you take your time.

"More than likely the shooter that cant hit the broad side of a barn."

Thats a BS statement. You have no idea what the man's capability are. Shut your pie hole.

Listen to dvdgeorge. For only $42 more you will be getting a better quality gun with a Green mountain barrel. If you can afford to hunt elk and mulies in Colorado more than once, an extra $42 isn't even a drop in the bucket.

And you HAVE to get a 50 caliber if you ever thought you might elk hunt with it. Minimum 50 caliber required.

I have 2 knights, one is a Disk Elite, the other is a disk extreme, Paid $175 for one and $225 for the other, both were brand new. I've seen lots of knights sell for $200 or less. Some new some used, if you go used make sure you get a 3 day inspection period to check it out and make sure the barrel isn't pitted/rusty. I think used muzzy's if well cared for are a steal.

I also have a CVA, not even fair to compare to a Knight. The CVA has a rough barrel thats a PITA to clean, the trigger sucks, and over all just isn't as nice of a rifle. It shoots ok, but thats about the only plus side.
