I admit, I'm a bit frustrated doing my homework on the Late tag I drew this year in the list of people I usually draw information from. I've gone through the bio's, Carters, looked up previous tag holders, guides in the area, ect....and I'm running into walls it seems. So I'm headed here with my issues with some hope.
The problem seems to be this hunt is relatively new, it's a huge unit for someone who has yet to hunt it, and it's a crapshoot on finding a good bull. What I'm looking for is general info that can help me narrow areas when I'm scouting the week prior to the hunt. Do the elk have migration tendancies in snow vs. no snow? Should I concentrate on the N.End of the unit vs. areas around the roadless sections that seem to hold good bulls? If the snow gets heavy, where are the road systems I can get in/out of? I'd love to hear from some deer hunters later this month of anything they've seen in the field also. I can always give a donation of seafood for anyone with some "great" info!!
Thanks in advance for any help. This is going to be a DIY hunt, I'll have a full camp w/ 4wheelers but prefer to hike and get away from others where I can. I'll be glad to share info on areas of my expertise as much as possible as well if anyone is interested. Thanks again.
