Canvas Treatment

Wondering if anyone out there knows what is good to treat a canvas wall tent. I have heard Thomsons waterseal, linseed oil, and at Cabellas, they have Canvak. But I cannot find a reccomendation for any good treatment from someone with experience. Any suggestions?

Years ago I used the "old" Thompson's on a wall tent and it worked fine. I used the "new and improved" Thompson's on a new tent and it just about ruined it. I had to wash it in a commercial machine and it still stinks. The old Thompson's can included canvas on the list of material it can be used on, I don't think the new stuff should be used on a tent. I hope this saves you the trouble I experienced. I gave the stinky tent to a friend and I don't plan on sleeping in it.
