It was early spring and I thought that I was watching a small bull...until a calf came up and started suckling (Let the inappropriate MM humor rip with that one). The nursing lasted a while and was not quite right on my senses...kind of like watching a Siegfried and Roy act. I gave a call to a Park biologist and he told me right where I must have been before I could even finish the story. They'd been aware of the cow for a while. She/he was living along the Madison River, about half way between the West entrance and Madison Junction. Sorry the pic sucks...taken with an old 35mm film camera.
