Three of us over the age of 60 are planning on going to your fine state in 2015 to hunt for deer and antelope. Can you give us any help in selecting a area or unit that is easy to draw? We like to hunt on our own without guides on public land. We are looking for just a fun hunt not trophy's, just regular animals I hope you can be of help. Thanks in advance.....Jim

Look on the Game & Fish site to see which units have left over tags. These will tell you which units are easiest to draw. However, you will see that most of the easy ones are mostly private land. You can also pick up extra doe or buck tags in these units which is nice.

Look for units with significant amounts of walk-in area. These are leased by the state for hunting and often provide good opportunities.

Buy a point this year to help with your chances next year. I think you have until September to buys points.

There are no "general" units for deer or antelope. All units for antelope are limited quota. For NRs all of the deer are by units with some being limited quota that have to be applied for individually. All the deer units are put together by " Region" and those are designated with a letter. Those can be applied for by Region and if you draw the license you can hunt any of the units within that Region that aren't designated as limited quota. There is a section with "Draw Odds" that shows how many points you need to draw atag. Definiyely buy a PP for each animal when you can between 7/1 and 9/30 so you can go into the draws with 1PP each in 2015. Now, instead of asking any more questions like that out on a Forum, please go take some time on the G&F website and you can answer most of your questions yourself by doing some reading, looking at the unit maps for each animal in the application booklet that is excellent, etc. Good luck!
