Deer unit 71-79

Just want to get an idea from you guys. Before that, I know there are a few that get butt hurt over asking for help or questions, so please dont read past this dot.

My buddy and I drew a this tag, early season rifle. We put in for it since a friend of mine from Elko told us it was good. So we did. He has told me some good things about it, are they TRUE?
Big area, good deer #'s, good bucks to be found. Is this true?
He says he will help us, but just looking for second opinions/help?

more elk than deer in those units

i have an early archery bull tag this year so i can get you some info if i see deer up there
They're running a ton of cow hunts and depredation hunts for elk in 81 but people will be on the roads in 76-79 so you'll have lots of assistance if you talk to the elk hunters you run into

Good units for deer and elk. Average deer are in the 140-165 range. With drought this year, its going to be tough for much bigger. I love the jarbidge wilderness for the best bucks. I also have an archery elk tag in the 61-71 unit. I will keep my eyes open for ya. But I am not a big fan of 071 for bucks, always have seen better bucks in 072. If I were you I would start serious scouting about July 4th, that seems to be when you can see what a buck will be.
