LAST EDITED ON Jul-10-13 AT 12:47PM (MST)[p]Planned to hit a unit that is on fire currently, so went with plan B. Very neat place, started about 8700, got up to 12.100, followed the divide a ways. Put on 40 miles in 3 days w/ a 50 lb pack, still recovering, quite a bit for guys who live at sea level. 4 days out of a Badlands 2200 is pushing it's limits.
Not sure If I'll hunt here this fall, but its an amazing place.
First herd - about 75 cows and calves:
2 young bulls feeding after a rain storm. Did I mention the weather? 3 + hours of rain every day and 2 days of hail storms.
I'd guess around 200 in this herd, but so broken up every where hard to count.
In the slash on the right hand side of this photo, there was a bull bugling his head off at high noon on July 5th!
Camp day 2
And...done.
