My dad has this tag. I will go with him and help him kill his first brow tine this September. We just received the map of the unit, looks like the north end is really steep. I think we will go for the last 10 days DIY and hunt our tails off, Sept 6-16th. Is there any reason to go earlier on this one? I have no idea where to even start on this hunt???? We have a nevada archery deer tag in August and that's been more of the focus since it's a month earlier in terms of scouting. I think we will plan on doing over night spike camps on our back, moving until we hear elk or see elk. I have heard a lot of good things about this hunt, especially the size of the bulls. I have also heard from many that the country is steep and deep. With only 20 total tags, there can't be much pressure I wouldnt think. Anyone want to help a father son DIY effort to kill pops his first brow tine bull at 68 years old? Dont let his age fool you, he's been hiking 5 days a week already and last year, we did 20 miles one way on horses on our elk hunt.
