Taken from the Vacaville Reporter:
In December, at a public meeting about the future of the area with federal, state and local officials, Boxer urged President Obama to use his executive authority to make the designation. Boxer and (Mike)Thompson first introduced the bill in the 112th Congress, and again in the 113th Congress.
While in January, Assemblyman Bill Dodd, along with Sens. Lois Wolk and Mike McGuire and Assemblyman Jim Wood, introduced a resolution in the California Legislature to petition President Barack Obama to create the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.

At the moment, I know very little about the effect this designation will have on our rights to use the land. It seems to me it is already public land, therefore, it's protected to a certain extent. Another issue I have, is in the first paragraph above. The words "executive authority". I know every President uses this authority, but that doesn't make it right. This single phrase is about the only reason anyone needs to oppose this.
It seems these Politicians may have a monetary gain to be made as well. Many know Feinstein and Boxer have both pushed various pieces of legislation through in the past, that directly benefited their husband's pocket book via gov't contracts and things of similar fashion. I have more reading to do tomorrow to reinforce the negative feelings I harbor about the designation.
The proponents views are nicely sugar coated in most articles I have read! They would make most sheeple follow right along with the designation!
