Any one know the status of the Blacksmith fork? I know there aint but a couple of us that even get over there, but i thought i'd ask before i drive up and find out myself.
I live in cache valley my whole life and fished the blacksmith more times than I can count. Yea it's ok, but I can't understand why anyone would drive up from SLC to fish it. Why not go hit the Provo, way bigger fish, and a more consistent river. I just don't like fishing it cause I've got to go through Provo, and I don't want any of that holier than thou crap to get on me. My crap stinks and I'm damn proud of it.
with out giving any of my secrets away, just cause you dont catch big fish on that river doesn't mean they aren't there. And I enjoy a little detour, on my way to bear lake, to take part in one of the few stonefly hatches in utah.
I didn't say I haven't caught big fish on it, I've just caught more and bigger on the Provo. Most of the guys I know that have/do fish the Blacksmith say the same. Inconsistent. Once I started fishing other rives, beaverhead, southfork, henry's, ham's fork etc...the local rivers just don't do it for me anymore. Speaking of stones, have you ever hit the madison or henry's fork during the hatch?
