I have been thinking about a muzzleloader deer hunt in 70. I am 69 years old and wondering how rough that high country is? I am hoping that there is someone out there that has done this hunt would be willing to shed some light on the unit.
Thanks Don

The high country is steep and runs 11,000 to 14,000 feet. That altitude kills me once I get over 11,000. You don't necessarily need to be hunting the high country in that unit, but it is beautiful if you can get your body in there.

Most high country in CO is rough by most standards, but unit 70 high country is pretty rough. Three of Colorado's difficult 14ers are in that area.

I drew a 3rd rifle hunt this year in GMU 70. Ive only hunted Colorado one other time in a different unit. Just wondering if anyone can share some info on this unit for the 3rd rifle. Any information will help. Im headed out to learn the unit in about a month.
