healthy states, red or blue?

I noticed an article the health of the citizens of different states.
It used things like obesity, cardiovascular disease, doctors per 100.000 people, longevity ect. to rate each state.

For fun I looked up whether rated the states were red of blue? surpise? 8 out 10 or the healthiest states were blue, and 10 out of 10 of the unhealthiest states were red, What does that mean?

The top 11 includes Utah, North Dakota, Nebraska, Colarado (is two states or a purple state or a purple haze state)

Idaho is 12th, hardly a democrat alive in Idaho.

So not sure whether one article means much of anything.

I think I saw a similar article today, probably the same one.

There was a photo of three young ladies riding bicycles in the sand. All three were smiling.

I thought to myself "Who ever rides a bike in the sand and smiles about it, has to be a Democrat". Not too sharp.

North Dakota and Utah were the only red states listed in the in the top ten, Whats interesting is how the least unhealthy 10 states were red, all ten of them.

I would think that health would be one of the top priorities forthe citizens of any state or country? many say its even more important than wealth.

I find it interesting and wonder what the lifestyle in the South has to do with their political leanings?
Its just some interesting statistics, how the Blue states to the north are different, how their healthier lifestyles are different, right along with their politics.

The northern countries is the world community are usually more progressive, and as a rule its seems to be the same in the US states, most notable on the East side. its not a hard and fast rule, but there seems to be a trend

In the southern hemisphere its similar, The colder countries of Chile and Argentina are more progressive than their northern neighbors.

Piper I am sure you are aware of this, or otherwise you would have answered my request to conduct a search of states with the highest overall tax burden on it's citizens.

The top five states are California, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Hawaii, and New Jersey. All are controlled by Democratic state goverments. New Jersey has a GOP govenor, Christie, but a majority Democrat state legislature.

Boy you better hope that Wyoming does not get more voting idiots like you. If they do they will be pulling out the wallet more often to support a welfare state.

Dude my family does have more claim to that title since it came about because of a family member during the coal mine wars of the 20's in West Virginia.
I take you have heard of the Matewan massacre where a family member was the chief of police in Matewan,WV. His name was Sid Hatfield and he was a champion of the coal miners. In fact he turned down bribes offered to him by the coal mine owners to look the other way when they kicked out miners and their families on to the streets from their homes owned by the coal mine owners.
The so called Baldwin-Felts detective agency was hired by the mine owners to put miner families out in the street during a rain because the miners had talked about joining the miner's union for better work conditions and pay.
About 11 Baldwin-Felts thugs came into town armed to the teeth with pistols and rifles and started kicking families out of their homes. Sid Hatfield and the town mayor confronted them and told them they did not have proper court orders to do the evictions and leave town and not come back. Gun fight started and Sid killed at lease one of the Felt brothers whose older brother owned the Baldwin-Felts detective agency. 7 Baldwin-felts thugs died that day.
Lee Felts sworn revenge on Sid and had some trumped up charges filled against Sid that would require him to travel to McDowell county to answer those charges in court there.
Sid Hatfield and a mine union rep traveled to McDowell county and was with their wives when they went to court. Both Sid and the union rep were unarmed since they were going to court. As they got up to the landing of the court house steps, 5 Baldwin-Felts private detectives ambushed them and killed both of them in front of their wives. Sid went down in a hail of bullets, and one of the detective thugs rushed over and put a bullet in the back of his head as he layed on the steps. The Baldwin-Felts detectives got off on a claim of self defense due to the mine owners bribing the local law enforcement and judge.

This so angered the coal miners, most were vets from WW1, that about 5,000 of them banded together and armed themselfs and marched towards McDowell county to seek revenge over Sid's death. Enroute they encountered armmed guards and law enforcement officers that were hired by the mine owners to stop them. A battle on Blair Mountain took place that some historians say over 100,000 rounds of ammunition were fired in that battle.
Goverment moved in troops and put a stop to the fight.
Prior to the battle, the miners in order to identify themselfs from mine guards put red bandannas around their necks during the battle and the term "Redneck" came from that incident and the miners using red bandannas to prevent them from shooting one of their own. It is documented history.
Since then the term "Redneck" has been altered to mean a lot of other things, some being derogatory and disparaging.
