How to cook grouse in camp

I hope to take a grouse or two during my backpacking hunt into the high country in September and I'm not sure yet how I'm gonna cook 'em up.

Space and weight are issues of course, but I will have my Pocket Rocket stove and Titanium cook pot. I considered taking a small fry pan for the grouse or possibly grilling or roasting them over a fire.

What would or do you guys do?

Thanks,
Jeff

Cook the breasts in butter w/ a little garlic powder & some salt and pepper. Don't over cook.

Just bring some tin foil and your seasoning.
-Season the bird
-wrap in tin foil
-build large fire
Dig a good hole, big enough to allow a layer of coals, the bird, and then another layer of coals.
Once there are a lot of coals:
-layer the bottom of the hole w/ coals
-place bird wrapped in tin foil on coals
-add coals over bird
-cover w/ dirt.
Depending on how well you made the system will effect your cook times. 45min-1hr. (mostly done this one at camp where we have access to a shovel and a few beers) Just an idea though. Good luck.

Bringing the small pan would be faster and easier

I like to cook them in a fry pan, first quarter bird into 4 pcs.
fry in about 1/2 beer till firm, turn over and repeat on other side.
Now drain off beer and add a big slice of butter and finnish frying untill well browned add a little salt & pepper.

Thanks for the great ideas, just what I was lookin' for.
You guys are makin' me hungry!
Jeff
