I personally love bowhunting the desert. "Desert" is also quite a broad term. One key to hunting "desert" areas would be finding water (where there is a limited amount). You can pattern deer and this is exactly what I did last year in here Utah. I found a water source where I knew deer were coming into. I set up and let them come to me. I passed up 2 or 3 shots on smaller bucks at 30 yards hoping to kill a larger one that had come in multiple times. I plan on hunting over the same water this August. The worse parts were the temperature (it was one hot mother!), and only hunting the last 15 minutes of the day. I'd get in my blind 3 hours before dark, but the deer wouldn't show up until right before dark. I'm sure the bigger bucks would come in well after dark. I did hunt the mornings, but seen most of the deer at night. It was pretty fun though. I seen 20 different bucks hitting this particular water.
