I am looking at planning a high country archery deer hunt in unit 67 ID the first two weeks of season. I am familiar with the lower country but have never been past 8500'. I can see there are plenty of high basins that may be worth my while. I am just looking for a bit of info to help narrow down a few drainages to start. How is the traffic up high? I'm aware itwilll only be horse or hoof, but will I be battling all the deer hunters bunched up in one area? or will they be scattered throughout the unit? I can't imagine too many hunters up past 9000', especially with the lack of maintained trails. I am aware that last winter was tough and deer numbers are down,
I am prepared for that.
I don't live too far away so I will have ample time to scout it out. Just looking for some areas with less amounts of hunters of either species, and peoples recent experiences on this hunt. I am aware of the amount of bear, that isn't an issue. Thanks in advance, I'd offer some elk hunting advice on the unit but didn't have much of that there this past season. Tough hunting, but thats how I like it. thanks!
