SANTA FE (AP) - The Senate on Tuesday endorsed a Department of Game and Fish proposal to auction off two pricey hunts each year.
Each of the two hunting packages would allow the winner of the auction to kill a deer, an elk, an oryx, an ibex and a pronghorn antelope.
The department says it expects the buyers to spend up to $250,000 on the two packages.
The money would be used to match federal funds available for big game habitat improvement and conservation.
The Senate passed the measure by a vote of 33-1 and sent it to the House.
