So are we to believe Trumps words from the past as being what he truly believes? Which Donald Trump is to be believed on anything? He can change positions based on who is audience is and on where he thinks he can get the best reaction.
-Trump wrote. "We should not hear so many stories of families ruined by health care expenses. We must not allow citizens with medical problems to go untreated because of financial problems or red tape."
When he turned to how the country might achieve universal coverage, Trump focused like a laser beam on a Canadian-style, single-payer plan. He said it would eliminate many billions of dollars of overhead.
- In his book The America We Deserve, published in 2000 Trump Wrote, ?I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today?s internet technology we should be able to tell within 72 hours if a potential gun owner has a record.?
-"In many cases, I probably identify more as Democrat," Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in a 2004 interview. "It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans. Now, it shouldn't be that way. But if you go back, I mean it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats. ...But certainly we had some very good economies under Democrats, as well as Republicans. But we've had some pretty bad disasters under the Republicans."
Pick any issue and he has changed his position on it multiple times and is likely to change again when the winds blow a different direction.
How can anyone trust that Trump has a core belief in anything? ne
