Las Vegas

I'v been working in LV for almost 3 months now. I have come to the conclusion that Vegas is one of the biggest if not the biggest $hit hole cities there is. I can't wait to get the hell out of here.

Amen brother! 4 years for me. I hope to get out of here someday too.

I live in St George (UT) and have a bro-in-law that lives in Vegas. We make it down there quite often, and as recently as last week. I cringe everytime we have to go. I hate that town more than about any other place. And I SWEAR they've been working on the damn freeway for like 20 freaking years! What a s&!* hole!

I've never been to Vegas, and doubt if I ever will. All the ads on TV make it look like the greatest place on earth.

Drove through there a few years back on my way from Cali to St George, got a room, walked around the hotel, cancelled my room and left. Very dark feeling there and very rude people.

Vegas is fun !
If you guys can't have fun there, your either wound to tight or to busy trying to be prudish.

Vegas sucks period. As one of the other posts mentioned the people are rude, the town is a complete $hit hole but I am comparing it to the old vegas and the way it was in the 60's - 70's. Being from northern CA originally I always went to Lake Tahoe and Reno which I think are by far nicer than Vegas will ever be.

LAST EDITED ON May-16-09 AT 10:57AM (MST)[p]I have lived in Vegas 33 years ,There is alot to do other than gamble ,drink and chase women.Only 35 minutes from here are deer ,elk ,BIG bighorn sheep .Fishing, other than at Lake Mead. Its not bad if you get away from the casino's. Shotgunjim,if you are not framiliar with places to go to shed hunt ,scout the wildlife,or fish for brook trout out of a small stream within a half hour from Vegas ,PM me ,I will give you a few ideas .Tom

I agree with Fldrw22 that there are outdoor activities around to be had if you get out and look. I'm not up on brook trout though. However, I disagree with you other guys that Reno is any better than Vegas for a zillion reasons.

Vegas is a great place for a vacation but living here is a different story. I am not happy about living in Vegas because I just can't get used to the grind (traffic, illegals, liberal Calis taking over) which is my own problem I guess. With the real estate crash, the unfavorable aspects seem to be getting worse.

I was born in Reno, grew up there and always wanted to leave. I guess it was the grass is always greener somewhere else thing. Well, in 2001 we moved to Vegas for job reasons and I've been trying to get the hell outta here ever since. We're just about ready to leave because I've managed to put together a business since I've been here that I can take anywhere.

Reno is a much better place imo. You can go an hour in any direction and be fishing for all kinds of different species, not to mention the river right in town. The hunting is much better too and you don't have to travel 100's of miles to do it. I could never go back there though, Reno's grown into a huge mess too. My family up there says the libs moving in are trying to turn the place into another Kalifornia, just like they've done in Vegas.

I can give vegas credit for one thing... the winters spoil you.

i have lived in Vegas since 1995. sure i have a list of places other than here where I'd rather live, but its not that bad of a place and far from a ##### hole. Moved here dead broke with a wife and 4 kids, now I am a wealthy person semi-retired and loving life. The economy is not that good here now in my field but when it turns around Vegas will be fine again.

we VISIT there about twice a year, 3-4 days at a time. I love it, really enjoy it. not sure if i'd want to live there but for a way to blow of some steam and relax its pretty good. also like someone mentioned there is a lot to do right outside of town if you are in to hiking and biking and sightseeing.

WHAT.........? Vegas is FUN!

It's a 4 hour drive for me and we go 3 or 4 times a year and another 3 times for conventions.

There is a lot of cool stuff to do there. If you can't find it in Las Vegas, you probably don't really need it anyway.

Hiking , biking, and sight seeing in 115 degree temperatures sounds like good times to me too.

Calling Vegas a #### hole is just my opinion and I have no scientific data to back it up. I don't mean to offend anyone. I guess one mans trash is another mans castle.

Triple digit temps. at the beginning of May.
115 plus degree temps. during summer months.( June-Sept)
Not a few, but a lot of scars along side the highway where vehicles have caught fire. WTF is up with that?
You have to have the A/C on in your car even when you drive at night.
Whores going door to door asking if anyone wants to do "business".
At least a hundred Mexicans in the parking lot of Home Depot yelling" Labor,Labor" at me as I drive in and then a half dozen or so of the aggressive ones surround my truck as I park.
Going to the grocery store and notice that I'm the only white person in there.
Smoke Shops and Porn Shops in every shopping center.
Bums begging for money at almost every off ramp.
I have to drive 40+ minutes to take my dog for a swim and then have to pay $5 once I get there.
Traffic jams all day every day.
Going to a bar on the Strip and getting 2 beers and tipping your server cost $20.
The tap water taste like a$$.
The #1 reason people visit LV is to drink, gamble, and get whores.
Everything is brown, the ground, the mountains, the houses, everything.
There are no trees in Vegas, and ugly a$$ Palm trees don't count.
Dudes handing out cards with whores phone #s on them by the thousands on the strip.
78 year old men being beat to death on a busy street corner and there are no witnesses.
Ever since I'v been here I have gotten one cold after another and now I'm getting over some Swine Flu funk where I was puking and had bad diarrhea for 2 days, I have never been that sick in my entire life.
8+ hour drive from any decent bird hunting.
10+ hour drive from one of my favorite spots in the world, The South Fork of the Snake.

Like I said before, I can't wait until this job is done and I can get the hell out of this $hit hole.

Thanks FLW, I'll send you a pm later. I'm feeling like crap I got to go lay down for a little bit.

LAST EDITED ON May-18-09 AT 00:20AM (MST)[p]its a fun place as long as you have a few bucks and aren't drunk, like to fight, eat and party................

OK you azzholes, you have gone too far now! The hate posts about California are all fun and games but this is just too much. I may not live in Las Vegas but you're picking on my state now. If you aren't careful I'm gonna start posting pictures of all the good things in Vegas. Pictures of all the scenery and of me and my boy out fishing and hunting and recreating and learning all those life's lessons you can only learn from someone who has actually been there and done it. And we will argue about who has the tallest mountains and biggest lakes and deepest holes. And I'll get mad and call you arrogant and you will call me gay and all that stuff.

Oh, and if you're not up on sarcasm that's what this is. If you don't get it read the "Why live in California post". :)

PS. I just spent three days in and around Las Vegas. If I get a chance, and founder gets rid of that stupid ad, I will post a few pics of some of the "scenery" we really did see.

easy NV....its a great place to gas up on my way some where else...
